My darling mum died on 3rd April, 11 days after being admitted to Intensive care unit, Ninewells
Hospital, Dundee.
My mum was never, ever ill - she was last at the GP 18 years ago with shingles! She was joking with
me, on the telephone, just the day before she took ill (Mother's day). She did say, however, that
she felt like she had the flu. She went to the doctor the following day and he was concerned about
her heart rate and sent her to hospital by ambulance. She, unfortunately, had a cardiac arrest
within a short time of arriving in hospital and suffered a catastrophic stroke as well. She tried so
very hard to fight but, sadly, was unable to overcome all the problems which came from both things.
She also, it turned out, had pneumonia (not the flu as she had thought) so she had a very hard
fight.
She was always laughing and joking and was a fantastic mum, wife, grandmother and friend. She is
sorely missed by so many people and is thought about every single day.
My mum and dad were like newly weds and my dad is simply lost without her. He tries very hard to be
strong because that is what she would have wanted but he is simply lost. They went everywhere
together and they needed each other so much. We try very hard to visit and to phone him but he wants
mum and we won't do!
Mum, I miss you so much and life is just not the same without you. Will try and be half the person
you were and I will be a success if I am. Love you x

When we depart this life love is still with us in death
Cherishing our loved ones when they are alive
This is how we manage and how we do survive

When we read the bible this will tell us how
God has many mansions and there is room for us
Just believe in him and all his love and his holy trust

So when we weep for loved ones that have now left this life
No more having to deal with the pressure and the strife
But waiting their patiently for us to join them in their love
While our loving family look down from high above

I have not turned my back on you,
so there is no need to cry.
I'm watching you from heaven,
